At an elevation of 6,000 feet, Rifle Gap State Park has something to offer every
outdoor enthusiast. The clean, clear waters of this 350 acre reservoir afford
some of the best scuba diving, boating, swimming, water-skiing and windsurfing
in Colorado. Camping, hiking and picnicking opportunities at this 1,305-acre park
also await the Rifle Gap State Park visitor. Even golfers can pursue their sport
here, teeing off on the 18-hole course that lies adjacent to the area. The fun
doesn't stop in the wintertime, when ice fishing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling
are available for the cold-weather buffs. Rifle Gap is close to many ski areas,
only 40 miles from Glenwood's famous hot springs, and home to a variety of wildlife,
including deer and elk. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trout, Walleye and Perch are the primary fish at Rifle Gap. Very large (12"-16")
